Senior Technician – OT

The Senior Technician – OT will play a critical in supporting surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures. This requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage OT equipment, inventory, and safety protocols efficiently.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Adhere strictly to the surgical safety checklist for all procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the operation theatre before, during, and after surgeries.
• Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
• Accompany and support anesthetists during anesthesia administration and pain management procedures.
• Assist in epidural procedures and support activities in LDR when required.
• Ensure safe transportation and shifting of patients post-surgery to recovery areas.
• Monitor patients post-procedure and report any abnormal findings promptly.
• Wash, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments as per protocols.
• Maintain aseptic conditions and infection control practices in the OT.
• Track and manage inventory of medications, surgical supplies, and consumables.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment and OT instruments.
• Monitor and maintain medical gas levels and ensure uninterrupted supply.
• Check equipment and gas lines for serviceability prior to procedures.
• Ensure compliance with policies for storage and handling of drugs and narcotics.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation related to procedures and equipment usage.
• Ensure proper record-keeping and data protection in line with hospital policies.
• Coordinate with procurement for timely replenishment of OT supplies.
• Support emergency procedures and handle critical situations efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization within the OT environment.
• Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team for smooth coordination.
• Assist in audits and ensure audit readiness of OT operations.
• Train and guide junior technicians when required.
• Ensure patient dignity, safety, and confidentiality at all times.
• Work in rotational shifts and be available for emergency procedures.
• Contribute to improving surgical outcomes and operational efficiency.
