Duty Doctor

The Duty Doctor is responsible for providing medical care, patient assessment, emergency support, and clinical coordination during assigned duty hours. The requires sound medical knowledge, quick decision-making, patient monitoring, and documentation skills. The candidate should work closely with consultants, nurses, emergency teams, and hospital departments to ensure timely and safe patient care.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Examine patients and provide initial medical assessment during duty hours.
• Attend emergency cases and provide immediate medical support.
• Monitor admitted patients and update consultants about clinical condition changes.
• Prescribe basic treatment as per hospital protocols and consultant guidance.
• Assist consultants during rounds, procedures, and patient care planning.
• Review investigation reports and coordinate further clinical actions.
• Maintain accurate medical records, progress notes, and treatment documentation.
• Respond promptly to calls from wards, ICU, emergency, and nursing stations.
• Counsel patients and attendants regarding basic medical updates when appropriate.
• Coordinate with nursing staff for treatment execution and patient monitoring.
• Ensure proper handover of patient details during shift change.
• Follow hospital clinical protocols, ethical standards, and patient safety guidelines.
• Support code blue, emergency response, and critical care coordination when required.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and professional medical conduct.
