Consultant - General Medicine

The Consultant - General Medicine will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing adult medical conditions across OPD, IPD, emergency, and hospital care settings. This requires strong clinical assessment, internal medicine knowledge, chronic disease management, emergency care support, and patient counselling skills. The candidate will coordinate with specialists, nurses, diagnostics, and hospital teams to ensure evidence-based and patient-centered medical care.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients with general medicine and internal medicine conditions.
• Diagnose fever, infections, diabetes, hypertension, respiratory illness, cardiac symptoms, and systemic diseases.
• Provide OPD, IPD, emergency, ICU, and referral medical consultations as required.
• Review laboratory reports, imaging findings, vitals, treatment response, and patient progress.
• Prescribe appropriate medications, investigations, treatment plans, and follow-up advice.
• Manage acute medical emergencies and stabilize patients before referral or admission.
• Coordinate with specialists, nursing teams, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and administration.
• Counsel patients and relatives regarding illness, medication, prevention, and lifestyle changes.
• Maintain accurate case sheets, prescriptions, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Attend ward rounds, clinical discussions, and multidisciplinary case reviews.
• Follow hospital protocols, infection control guidelines, and patient safety standards.
• Support chronic disease management programs and preventive healthcare initiatives.
• Ensure timely clinical decisions and proper documentation for admitted patients.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, and medical education activities.
