Consultant - Cardiology (Interventional)

The Consultant – Interventional Cardiology will be responsible for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases, performing catheter-based interventions, and managing both acute and chronic cardiac conditions. This requires strong procedural expertise, clinical judgment, and the ability to handle high-risk cardiac cases.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of cardiovascular diseases including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular disorders.
• Conduct detailed patient evaluations including clinical history, physical examination, and cardiac assessment.
• Perform interventional cardiology procedures such as coronary angiography, angioplasty, and stent placements.
• Manage emergency cardiac cases including myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, and acute coronary syndromes.
• Interpret diagnostic investigations including ECG, echocardiography, stress tests, and cardiac imaging studies.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based cardiology practices.
• Provide pre-procedural and post-procedural care for interventional patients.
• Monitor patient progress and manage complications related to cardiac procedures.
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and other specialists for multidisciplinary cardiac care.
• Supervise inpatient and outpatient cardiology services.
• Conduct OPD consultations and follow-up clinics for cardiac patients.
• Ensure timely decision-making for high-risk and emergency cardiac interventions.
• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation and procedural records.
• Participate in cath lab procedures and ensure optimal utilization of resources.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and cardiac safety standards.
• Educate patients and families regarding cardiac disease management and lifestyle modifications.
• Mentor and guide junior doctors, residents, and cath lab staff.
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Handle medico-legal documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
• Stay updated with advancements in interventional cardiology techniques and technologies.
• Participate in clinical audits, research, and academic activities.
• Contribute to developing cardiology protocols and clinical guidelines.
• Ensure high standards of patient safety, ethics, and clinical excellence.
• Coordinate with hospital administration for efficient cardiology service delivery.
• Work towards improving patient outcomes and cardiovascular care quality.
