Assistant Medical Superintendent

The Assistant Medical Superintendent will support hospital administration, clinical operations, quality systems, departmental coordination, patient care processes, and compliance activities. This requires medical knowledge, healthcare management skills, leadership ability, and coordination with doctors, nursing, administration, operations, and support departments. The candidate will help ensure smooth hospital functioning, patient safety, quality care delivery, and effective implementation of hospital policies.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Support daily hospital operations across clinical, nursing, diagnostic, and support departments.
• Coordinate with consultants, medical officers, nursing heads, and department managers.
• Monitor patient care processes, hospital workflow, and service quality standards.
• Assist in implementing hospital policies, SOPs, clinical protocols, and safety guidelines.
• Handle patient care escalations, service issues, and interdepartmental coordination.
• Support admission, discharge, emergency, ICU, OT, and ward operation planning.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, infection control, and patient safety initiatives.
• Monitor documentation quality, medico-legal records, consent forms, and clinical compliance.
• Coordinate manpower planning, duty rosters, and operational requirements with department heads.
• Support NABH, regulatory, statutory, and hospital accreditation-related activities.
• Review incident reports, complaints, delays, and operational gaps for corrective action.
• Assist senior management in preparing reports, dashboards, and performance updates.
• Ensure smooth coordination between medical, nursing, diagnostic, billing, and administrative teams.
• Promote ethical care, patient satisfaction, and professional hospital culture.
