Consultant - Cardiology

The Consultant – Cardiology will be responsible for providing comprehensive cardiology services across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings. This involves clinical evaluation, advanced diagnostics, interventional procedures (if applicable), and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic and patient-centric care.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and hypertension.
• Conduct detailed patient evaluations including history taking, physical examinations, and cardiovascular risk assessment.
• Interpret diagnostic investigations such as ECG, echocardiography, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and advanced cardiac imaging.
• Perform interventional cardiology procedures such as coronary angiography, angioplasty, and stenting (as per expertise).
• Provide pre-procedure counseling, explain risks and benefits, and obtain informed consent.
• Ensure safe intra-procedural and post-procedural patient management.
• Manage critically ill cardiac patients in coordination with ICU and emergency teams.
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and manage complications effectively.
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and other specialists for comprehensive cardiac care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation, procedure notes, and patient records.
• Ensure adherence to infection control practices, patient safety standards, and clinical guidelines.
• Handle emergency cardiac conditions such as myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.
• Supervise and guide junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and clinical audits.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processes.
• Stay updated with advancements in cardiology, interventional techniques, and emerging technologies.
• Participate in academic activities including teaching, training, and research.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.
• Support development and expansion of cardiology services within the hospital.
• Participate in outreach programs, health camps, and cardiac awareness initiatives.
