Consultant - Urologist

The Consultant – Urologist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive urology services, including outpatient consultations, inpatient care, and surgical interventions. This requires strong clinical expertise, surgical proficiency, and the ability to manage complex urological cases in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of urological conditions including kidney stones, prostate disorders, urinary tract infections, and urological cancers.
• Perform elective and emergency urological surgeries such as endoscopic, laparoscopic, and open procedures.
• Conduct detailed patient evaluations including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments.
• Interpret laboratory reports, imaging studies, and urodynamic tests to formulate treatment plans.
• Provide pre-operative counseling and obtain informed consent from patients and families.
• Ensure safe intra-operative management and adherence to surgical protocols.
• Oversee post-operative care, monitor recovery, and manage complications if any.
• Collaborate with nephrologists, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists for comprehensive care.
• Manage outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) urology services efficiently.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, surgical notes, and clinical documentation.
• Ensure adherence to infection control practices and patient safety standards.
• Handle emergency urological cases such as acute retention, trauma, and obstructive uropathy.
• Supervise and guide junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and clinical reviews.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and accreditation processes.
• Stay updated with advancements in urology, surgical techniques, and medical technologies.
• Participate in academic activities including teaching, training, and research.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
• Support departmental growth through service development and clinical excellence.
• Participate in community outreach programs, health camps, and awareness initiatives.
• Ensure cost-effective utilization of resources while maintaining quality care.
• Handle medico-legal cases with appropriate documentation and compliance.
