Consultant - Vascular Surgery

The Consultant – Vascular Surgery will be responsible for delivering comprehensive care for arterial, venous, and lymphatic conditions, including both elective and emergency cases. This requires strong surgical expertise, precision, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of vascular conditions including peripheral arterial disease, aneurysms, varicose veins, and deep vein thrombosis.
• Perform open and endovascular vascular procedures such as bypass surgeries, angioplasty, stenting, and thrombectomy.
• Conduct detailed patient evaluations including clinical assessments, imaging review, and risk stratification.
• Interpret diagnostic tests such as Doppler ultrasound, CT angiography, and MR angiography.
• Provide pre-operative counseling and obtain informed consent from patients and families.
• Ensure safe intra-operative management with adherence to surgical protocols.
• Oversee post-operative care, monitor recovery, and manage complications effectively.
• Handle emergency vascular cases such as acute limb ischemia, vascular trauma, and ruptured aneurysms.
• Collaborate with interventional radiologists, cardiologists, and other specialists for comprehensive care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, surgical notes, and clinical documentation.
• Ensure adherence to infection control practices, patient safety protocols, and quality standards.
• Supervise and guide junior doctors, residents, and surgical staff.
• Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Stay updated with advancements in vascular surgery techniques and technologies.
• Contribute to academic activities including teaching, training, and research.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.
