Consultant - Cardiology

The Consultant – Cardiology will be responsible for delivering expert cardiac care across OPD, IPD, and emergency settings. This involves clinical evaluation, interventional procedures, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic and patient-centric care. The position requires strong clinical expertise, decision-making skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and manage a wide spectrum of cardiovascular diseases including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and hypertension.
• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including history taking, physical examinations, and risk assessments.
• Interpret diagnostic tests such as ECG, echocardiography, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and cardiac imaging.
• Perform interventional cardiology procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, and other catheter-based interventions (if applicable).
• Provide pre-procedure counseling and obtain informed consent from patients and families.
• Ensure safe intra-procedural and post-procedural patient management.
• Manage critically ill cardiac patients in coordination with ICU and emergency teams.
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and other specialists for comprehensive cardiac care.
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and manage complications effectively.
• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation, reports, and procedure notes.
• Ensure adherence to infection control practices, patient safety protocols, and clinical guidelines.
• Handle emergency cardiac cases such as myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.
• Supervise and guide junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and clinical audits.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processes.
• Stay updated with advancements in cardiology, interventional techniques, and medical technologies.
• Participate in academic activities including teaching, training, and research.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
• Support development and expansion of cardiology services within the hospital.
• Participate in outreach programs, health camps, and cardiac awareness initiatives.
• Ensure cost-effective utilization of resources while maintaining high standards of care.
• Handle medico-legal cases with appropriate documentation and compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
• Promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and patient-centric care.
