Technician - OT is responsible for assisting operation theatre procedures, preparing surgical instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, supporting surgeons and nurses, and ensuring smooth OT workflow. The requires OT Technician course or diploma qualification with 1 to 3 years of experience in operation theatre support, surgical assistance, sterilization, patient preparation, and OT equipment handling.
Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare operation theatre before scheduled and emergency surgeries.
- Arrange surgical instruments, equipment, consumables, and sterile materials.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during procedures.
- Support patient shifting, positioning, and pre-operative preparation.
- Maintain aseptic precautions and sterile environment inside OT.
- Coordinate with CSSD for sterilized instruments and surgical packs.
- Check OT equipment readiness and report faults immediately.
- Maintain OT procedure logs, instrument records, and usage details.
- Handle surgical instruments safely before, during, and after procedures.
- Support cleaning, disinfection, and OT readiness after every case.
- Follow infection control, biomedical waste, and surgical safety protocols.
- Maintain stock of OT consumables and report shortages to seniors.
- Coordinate with nursing, anesthesia, biomedical, and maintenance teams.
- Support emergency surgical cases with quick OT preparation.
- Ensure safe, disciplined, and efficient operation theatre support.
