Biomedical Engineer

Biomedical Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and ensuring the safe functioning of hospital medical equipment. The involves preventive maintenance, equipment installation, breakdown support, safety checks, documentation, and coordination with vendors. Biomedical Engineer helps ensure uninterrupted clinical operations by maintaining equipment reliability, compliance, and safety across patient care departments.

Role & Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance of medical equipment as per hospital schedule and manufacturer guidelines.
• Inspect, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot biomedical equipment used in clinical departments.
• Attend equipment breakdown complaints and provide timely technical support.
• Maintain service records, calibration certificates, preventive maintenance logs, and equipment history files.
• Coordinate with vendors, service engineers, and suppliers for repairs, servicing, AMC, and spare parts.
• Ensure safe installation and commissioning of new medical equipment.
• Check equipment safety, electrical safety, performance accuracy, and operational readiness.
• Support departments such as ICU, OT, emergency, ward, laboratory, and diagnostic areas with equipment needs.
• Train hospital staff on basic handling, safe usage, and care of medical devices.
• Maintain biomedical inventory, asset tagging, equipment status, and maintenance tracking.
• Report major equipment faults, replacement needs, downtime risks, and safety issues to management.
• Ensure compliance with hospital quality standards, safety norms, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist during internal audits, inspections, and equipment documentation reviews.
• Monitor critical equipment availability and support emergency readiness.
• Maintain proper coordination with clinical, nursing, purchase, maintenance, and administration teams.
