Nursing Superintendent

Nursing Superintendent is responsible for managing overall nursing administration, supervising nursing staff, maintaining quality patient care standards, and ensuring smooth nursing operations across hospital departments. The requires GNM, B.Sc Nursing, or M.Sc Nursing qualification, with M.Sc Nursing preferred, and 5 to 7 years of experience in nursing administration, staff supervision, patient care, hospital nursing, and quality care management.

Role & Responsibilities

• Supervise overall nursing operations across wards, ICU, OT, emergency, and clinical departments.
• Ensure high-quality patient care delivery through proper nursing standards.
• Manage nursing duty rosters, shift allocation, attendance, and manpower planning.
• Guide and supervise nursing staff in clinical care, documentation, and patient safety.
• Monitor nursing performance and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
• Coordinate with doctors, consultants, administration, and department heads.
• Ensure proper medication administration, patient monitoring, and clinical handover.
• Maintain nursing documentation, reports, registers, and quality records.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor patient care, cleanliness, and staff discipline.
• Handle patient care escalations and nursing-related operational issues.
• Support infection control, biomedical waste, and patient safety protocols.
• Train and mentor junior nurses on clinical procedures and nursing standards.
• Participate in quality audits, nursing audits, and process improvement activities.
• Ensure availability of nursing supplies, emergency equipment, and ward readiness.
