Registrar - General Surgery

The Registrar - General Surgery will support surgical OPD, emergency cases, ward care, operative assistance, post-operative monitoring, and clinical documentation at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai. This requires MS or DNB General Surgery qualification with 0–4 years of experience, surgical knowledge, emergency response ability, and strong patient care discipline.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate general surgery patients in OPD, emergency, ward, and ICU settings.
• Assist consultants in surgical planning, operative procedures, and post-operative care.
• Manage wounds, dressings, drains, pain control, and surgical recovery monitoring.
• Review investigations, imaging reports, lab findings, and patient progress.
• Maintain progress notes, operative records, consent forms, prescriptions, and discharge summaries.
• Coordinate with OT, anesthesia, nursing, ICU, radiology, laboratory, and billing teams.
• Respond to surgical emergencies such as acute abdomen, trauma, bleeding, and sepsis.
• Support pre-operative preparation and post-operative patient counselling.
• Assist in minor procedures and emergency surgical interventions under guidance.
• Monitor patient vitals, fluid balance, surgical site condition, and complications.
• Follow surgical safety checklist, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in case discussions, clinical meetings, and departmental activities.
• Ensure proper handover of surgical patients between shifts.
• Escalate complications and critical changes to consultants immediately.
• Deliver safe, ethical, and timely surgical care support.
