Job Description

The Consultant - Neurology is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. The involves OPD consultations, inpatient neurology care, emergency stroke and seizure management, and coordination with ICU, neurosurgery, radiology, and rehabilitation teams. The consultant will provide evidence-based neurological care with accurate diagnosis and patient-focused treatment planning.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and manage patients with neurological symptoms and disorders.
  • Diagnose conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, headache, neuropathy, movement disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Conduct OPD consultations, inpatient rounds, and emergency neurological assessments.
  • Interpret MRI, CT scan, EEG, nerve conduction studies, and relevant diagnostic reports.
  • Provide timely care for stroke, seizures, altered consciousness, and acute neurological emergencies.
  • Coordinate with neurosurgery, ICU, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation teams.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and long-term management plans.
  • Monitor patient response and adjust treatment as clinically required.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding neurological diagnosis, prognosis, and care needs.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in case discussions, audits, and academic activities.
  • Support hospital protocols for emergency stroke care and neurological safety.
  • Supervise junior doctors and clinical staff when required.
  • Ensure ethical, compassionate, and confidential patient care.
