Consultant - Medical Gastroenterology

The Consultant - Medical Gastroenterology is responsible for diagnosing and managing diseases of the digestive system, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and gastrointestinal tract. The requires strong clinical expertise in gastroenterology, patient counseling, endoscopic evaluation where applicable, and coordination with surgical and critical care teams. The consultant will manage OPD, IPD, and emergency gastroenterology cases with evidence-based care.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and biliary disorders.
• Conduct OPD consultations and inpatient gastroenterology rounds.
• Manage conditions such as gastritis, hepatitis, liver disease, GI bleeding, pancreatitis, and IBD.
• Recommend and interpret relevant investigations including endoscopy, colonoscopy, imaging, and lab reports.
• Provide emergency care for acute abdominal pain, GI bleeding, and liver-related complications.
• Coordinate with surgeons, intensivists, radiologists, and dietitians for multidisciplinary care.
• Perform or supervise gastroenterology procedures as per expertise and hospital facilities.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and follow-up care protocols.
• Educate patients on diet, medication, lifestyle changes, and disease prevention.
• Maintain complete clinical records, prescriptions, procedure notes, and discharge documentation.
• Monitor treatment response and adjust care plans when required.
• Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and departmental meetings.
