Consultant - Anaesthetist

The Consultant - Anaesthetist is responsible for providing safe anaesthesia care for surgical, diagnostic, emergency, and critical care procedures. The includes pre-anaesthetic evaluation, intraoperative monitoring, pain management, airway support, and post-operative recovery care. The consultant will work closely with surgeons, intensivists, OT staff, and nursing teams to ensure patient safety and smooth perioperative care.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Conduct pre-anaesthetic assessment and evaluate patient fitness for procedures.
• Plan and administer general, regional, spinal, epidural, or local anaesthesia as appropriate.
• Monitor vital signs and patient safety throughout surgical and procedural care.
• Manage airway, ventilation, fluids, blood products, and emergency anaesthesia needs.
• Provide anaesthesia support for elective and emergency surgeries.
• Coordinate with surgeons, OT nurses, ICU teams, and recovery room staff.
• Manage post-operative pain relief and recovery monitoring.
• Respond promptly to anaesthesia-related complications and emergencies.
• Maintain accurate anaesthesia records, consent documentation, and procedure notes.
• Support critical care management when required.
• Ensure compliance with OT safety, sterilization, and infection control protocols.
• Check anaesthesia machines, drugs, equipment, and emergency readiness.
• Participate in clinical audits, safety reviews, and quality improvement activities.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding anaesthesia risks and care.
