Consultant - Medical Oncology

The Consultant - Medical Oncology is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing cancer patients through chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and supportive care. The requires multidisciplinary collaboration, patient counseling, treatment planning, and monitoring of therapy response. The consultant will ensure compassionate oncology care, safe treatment protocols, and continuous support for patients and families.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and manage patients diagnosed with various types of cancer.
• Develop individualized cancer treatment plans based on diagnosis, stage, and clinical condition.
• Prescribe and supervise chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive medications.
• Monitor treatment response, side effects, toxicity, and overall patient progress.
• Coordinate with surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and palliative care teams.
• Counsel patients and families regarding treatment options, expected outcomes, and care plans.
• Ensure safe chemotherapy administration protocols and dose calculations.
• Manage oncology emergencies such as febrile neutropenia, tumor lysis, and severe treatment reactions.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, treatment charts, consent forms, and follow-up documentation.
• Provide supportive care for pain, nutrition, infections, and treatment-related complications.
• Participate in tumor board discussions and multidisciplinary case reviews.
• Educate patients on treatment precautions, infection prevention, and follow-up schedules.
• Support clinical audits and quality improvement in oncology services.
