Senior Resident - Emergency Medicine

The Senior Resident – Emergency Medicine will play a critical in delivering life-saving care, managing emergency cases, and supporting clinical decision-making in high-pressure situations. This requires strong clinical expertise, quick decision-making skills, and the ability to handle critically ill patients efficiently.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assess, triage, and manage patients presenting with medical, surgical, and traumatic emergencies.
• Provide immediate stabilization and life-saving interventions for critically ill patients.
• Diagnose and manage acute conditions such as cardiac arrest, stroke, trauma, respiratory failure, and shock.
• Perform emergency procedures including intubation, CPR, defibrillation, central line insertion, and wound management.
• Order and interpret diagnostic investigations such as blood tests, ECGs, and imaging studies.
• Ensure rapid decision-making for admission, discharge, or referral to specialty departments.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as required.
• Coordinate with specialists, ICU teams, and other departments for further management.
• Manage emergency department workflow and ensure efficient patient flow.
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely clinical documentation of all cases.
• Respond promptly to code blue and other hospital emergency alerts.
• Handle medico-legal cases with proper documentation and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to emergency protocols, hospital guidelines, and patient safety standards.
• Supervise junior doctors, interns, and emergency staff in clinical duties.
• Participate in trauma and disaster management response activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families during critical situations.
• Maintain infection control practices and safety standards in the emergency department.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical audits.
• Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of emergency equipment and supplies.
• Stay updated with advancements in emergency medicine practices and protocols.
• Work in rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
