The Surgical Oncologist will provide cancer surgery consultation, tumor surgery planning, operative care, oncology patient evaluation, post-operative monitoring, and multidisciplinary cancer care coordination at HCG Oncology, Vijayawada. This requires MCh or DNB Surgical Oncology with 2–3 years of experience.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with suspected or confirmed cancer requiring surgical oncology opinion.
- Review biopsy reports, imaging, staging reports, tumor board recommendations, and patient fitness.
- Plan cancer surgeries based on tumor type, disease stage, patient condition, and treatment protocol.
- Perform or assist in tumor surgery, biopsy, staging procedures, and cancer-related surgical interventions.
- Coordinate with medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, anaesthesia, ICU, nursing, and OT teams.
- Monitor post-operative patients for wound healing, pain, infection, complications, and recovery progress.
- Counsel patients and families regarding surgery, risks, recovery, reconstruction options, and follow-up care.
- Maintain surgical notes, consent forms, operative records, oncology treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Participate in tumor board discussions and multidisciplinary oncology decision-making.
- Follow surgical safety checklist, infection control, patient safety, and ethical oncology practice.
- Support emergency surgical care for oncology patients when required.
- Deliver safe, precise, and patient-centered surgical oncology services.
