Duty Medical Officer Clinical

Duty Medical Officer – Clinical is responsible for providing continuous medical care, monitoring patient conditions, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring effective clinical management of patients within the hospital. The involves conducting patient rounds, maintaining accurate medical documentation, attending to patient concerns, monitoring critically ill patients, and supporting smooth ward operations. The candidate will play a key in ensuring quality patient care, timely clinical interventions, and adherence to hospital protocols and treatment standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper handover and takeover of patient information during shift changes.
• Conduct regular patient rounds along with consultants and referral doctors when required.
• Visit admitted patients regularly and perform routine clinical assessments based on patient condition.
• Monitor patient progress andentify changes in clinical condition promptly.
• Ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient records, progress notes, and treatment plans.
• Initiate and update admission records, discharge summaries, death summaries, and other clinical documentation.
• Maintain operation notes, case sheets, and daily patient monitoring records accurately.
• Review patient files and ensure there are no pending investigations, reports, or procedures.
• Follow up on laboratory investigations, diagnostic reports, and treatment recommendations.
• Coordinate with consultants regarding patient management and treatment decisions.
• Attend to patient and family concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure continuous monitoring and timely management of critically ill and high-risk patients.
• Provide emergency medical care and immediate clinical intervention when required.
• Keep senior doctors and consultants informed regarding significant changes in patient condition.
• Obtain prior approval from treating consultants before initiating additional medications or treatment modifications.
• Ensure adherence to hospital clinical protocols, patient safety guidelines, and infection control practices.
• Coordinate with nursing staff and other departments for effective patient care management.
• Monitor medication administration and ensure treatment compliance as per physician instructions.
• Support smooth ward functioning and maintain continuity of patient care.
• Participate in emergency codes, critical care management, and rapid response situations.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of patient medical information at all times.
• Assist in medico-legal documentation and reporting whenever required.
• Maintain professionalism, ethical conduct, and effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.
• Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Report all relevant clinical issues, incidents, and operational concerns to the management or superiors promptly.
