General OT Nurse

The General OT Nurse will support operation theatre nursing, surgical assistance, sterile technique, instrument handling, emergency medicine support, orthopaedic procedure coordination, and OT documentation at Fortis, New Delhi. This requires GNM or B.Sc Nursing qualification with 2–7 years of experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operation theatre, instruments, sterile trays, gowns, gloves, sutures, and OT consumables.
• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments and required materials.
• Maintain sterile field and follow aseptic precautions during OT activities.
• Support patient shifting, positioning, draping, and pre-operative preparation.
• Perform sponge, needle, swab, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgery.
• Coordinate with OT incharge, surgeons, anaesthesia team, CSSD, pharmacy, and support staff.
• Support emergency OT cases and orthopaedic surgical workflow when required.
• Ensure required equipment, instruments, implants, and emergency materials are available.
• Maintain OT registers, surgical checklist support, and procedure-related documentation.
• Follow infection control, biomedical waste management, OT safety, and sterilization protocols.
• Report damaged instruments, missing items, contamination, or equipment issues immediately.
• Ensure smooth, safe, sterile, and patient-focused OT nursing support.
