General OT Nurse

The General OT Nurse will support surgical nursing services, OT preparation, sterile field maintenance, surgical assistance, and patient transfer coordination at Fortis, Kolkata. This requires GNM or B.Sc Nursing with 2–7 years of experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Check OT readiness including lights, suction, cautery, monitors, oxygen, instruments, and consumables.
• Prepare surgical trays and ensure required sterile materials are available for each procedure.
• Assist during emergency, general, orthopaedic, and speciality surgical procedures as assigned.
• Maintain correct documentation of surgical checklist, sponge count, instrument count, and procedure details.
• Support patient shifting from ward or recovery area with proper safety precautions.
• Follow strict hand hygiene, PPE, sterilization, and infection prevention practices.
• Coordinate with OT technician, surgeon, anaesthetist, nursing supervisor, and CSSD staff.
• Observe patient condition during transfer and report any instability immediately.
• Maintain professional communication with patients, attendants, and clinical teams.
• Ensure smooth, disciplined, and patient-safe OT nursing operations.
