Associate Consultant - General Surgery

The Associate Consultant General Surgery will manage surgical consultation, operative care, emergency surgery support, post-operative review, patient counselling, and documentation at Fortis, Hyderabad. This requires MBBS with MS or DNB in General Surgery with 1–5 years of experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Consult surgical patients and plan investigations, treatment, or procedure requirements.
• Perform or assist in general surgery procedures as per clinical scope and hospital policy.
• Manage post-operative review, wound checks, drain assessment, pain control, and recovery advice.
• Attend emergency surgical cases and coordinate timely OT or ICU support.
• Coordinate with anaesthesia, OT, ICU, nursing, diagnostics, pharmacy, and billing teams.
• Counsel patients about surgery, risk, consent, recovery, diet, and follow-up care.
• Maintain consultation records, operative notes, consent files, and discharge summaries.
• Support surgical audits, quality improvement, and patient safety activities.
• Follow infection control, surgical checklist, and ethical practice standards.
• Provide safe and patient-centered surgical care.
