Scrub Nurse - Cathlab

The Scrub Nurse – Cathlab will be responsible for assisting cardiologists and cathlab teams during cardiac procedures by maintaining sterile technique, preparing instruments, supporting procedural workflow, and ensuring patient safety. This requires strong nursing knowledge, cathlab procedure understanding, infection control awareness, and emergency preparedness. The candidate will support angiography, angioplasty, and related interventions while maintaining accurate documentation and high standards of clinical care.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile instruments, trays, drapes, consumables, and procedure materials before cathlab cases.
• Assist cardiologists during angiography, angioplasty, stenting, pacemaker, and other cardiac procedures.
• Maintain sterile field and follow strict aseptic practices throughout procedures.
• Check availability of catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents, syringes, contrast, and emergency items.
• Support patient preparation, positioning, consent verification, and pre-procedure nursing checks.
• Monitor patient condition and assist the clinical team during procedural emergencies.
• Handle instruments and consumables safely to prevent contamination, damage, or procedural delay.
• Coordinate with circulating nurses, cathlab technicians, cardiologists, and anesthesia teams.
• Assist in medication preparation and procedural support as per doctor instructions and hospital policy.
• Maintain accurate cathlab nursing records, procedure notes, implant details, and consumable documentation.
• Follow infection control, biomedical waste management, hand hygiene, and PPE protocols.
• Support post-procedure patient transfer, dressing, observation, and handover to recovery or ward staff.
• Ensure cathlab cleanliness, equipment readiness, and procedure room turnover between cases.
• Report adverse events, equipment issues, stock shortages, or patient safety concerns promptly.
• Promote safe, efficient, and patient-centered cathlab care through disciplined nursing support.
