Cathlab Technician

The Cathlab Technician will be responsible for supporting cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures, equipment preparation, patient positioning, imaging support, and procedural documentation. This requires technical knowledge of cathlab equipment, cardiac procedures, radiation safety, sterile practices, and emergency readiness. The candidate will assist cardiologists and clinical teams during angiography, angioplasty, and related interventions while ensuring patient safety, equipment functionality, and smooth cathlab operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the cathlab, equipment, monitors, instruments, and consumables before cardiac procedures.
• Assist cardiologists during angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker procedures, and other cathlab interventions.
• Operate cathlab imaging systems and support fluoroscopy-based procedure workflow as per instructions.
• Position patients correctly and ensure proper preparation before procedures.
• Monitor patient vitals, ECG, oxygen saturation, and procedural parameters during cathlab cases.
• Maintain sterile field support and follow infection control practices during all procedures.
• Ensure availability of catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents, contrast media, and emergency supplies.
• Follow radiation safety protocols and use protective devices for patients and staff.
• Assist in patient shifting, pre-procedure checks, and post-procedure transfer coordination.
• Maintain cathlab procedure records, equipment logs, consumable usage, and documentation accurately.
• Report equipment malfunction, image quality issues, or procedural concerns to senior staff immediately.
• Coordinate with cardiologists, nurses, biomedical engineers, anesthetists, and emergency teams.
• Support cleaning, disinfection, and readiness of cathlab after each procedure.
• Handle emergency situations calmly and assist in CPR or code response when required.
• Maintain professional discipline, patient safety, and smooth cathlab workflow during assigned duties.
