Job Description
OT Technician is responsible for assisting surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures while ensuring smooth functioning of the operation theatre. The involves preparing operation theatres, handling surgical instruments, maintaining sterilization standards, supporting patient care during surgeries, and ensuring all OT equipment is ready for procedures. The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Prepare operation theatres before surgeries with all required surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
- Ensure proper sterilization, cleaning, and handling of surgical instruments and OT equipment.
- Maintain hygiene, infection control, and safety standards inside the operation theatre.
- Check functionality and readiness of OT equipment before every procedure.
- Assist in patient preparation, positioning, shifting, and transportation before and after surgeries.
- Arrange surgical instruments and supplies according to the procedure requirements.
- Support emergency surgeries and critical procedures whenever required.
- Monitor and maintain OT inventory including surgical supplies, medicines, and consumables.
- Coordinate with CSSD and other departments for instrument and material availability.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste disposal as per hospital protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of surgeries, sterilization logs, and OT checklists.
- Handle surgical instruments carefully to prevent contamination or damage.
- Identify equipment malfunctions and report maintenance requirements promptly.
- Ensure availability of emergency equipment and supplies inside the OT.
- Assist in maintaining smooth workflow and operational efficiency within the OT department.
- Follow NABH standards, infection prevention protocols, and hospital safety guidelines.
- Support surgeons by providing instruments and materials during procedures efficiently.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, and professionalism at all times.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement activities.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff for effective patient care.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
- Ensure operation theatre readiness for scheduled and emergency procedures.
- Follow all hospital policies, SOPs, and clinical protocols related to OT operations.
