Technologist Nuclear Medicine

Technologist – Nuclear Medicine is responsible for performing nuclear medicine imaging procedures and assisting physicians in the diagnosis and evaluation of various medical conditions. The involves preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating nuclear imaging equipment, monitoring patient safety, processing diagnostic images, and maintaining accurate procedural documentation. The candidate will play an important in ensuring high-quality imaging services while maintaining patient comfort, safety, and radiation protection standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals through oral, injection, or inhalation methods as prescribed.
• Explain nuclear medicine procedures to patients and address their concerns before imaging procedures.
• Position patients correctly to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging results.
• Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment including PET and SPECT scanners safely and efficiently.
• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures for organs such as the brain, thyroid, heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, and bones.
• Process and review imaging data using specialized computer systems and imaging software.
• Generate high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Monitor patients during and after procedures for any unusual reactions to radiopharmaceuticals.
• Ensure patient comfort, safety, and emotional support throughout imaging procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of radiopharmaceutical dosage, imaging procedures, and patient information.
• Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary radiation exposure to patients, staff, and visitors.
• Perform routine quality checks and maintenance of imaging equipment and medical devices.
• Identify equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs or servicing when required.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of radioactive materials according to safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with physicians, radiologists, and healthcare staff for effective patient care and imaging workflow.
