Consultant Emergency Physician

The Consultant Emergency Physician will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients presenting with urgent and life-threatening conditions. This requires strong clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and the ability to manage high-pressure situations effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide immediate assessment, triage, and management of emergency patients.
• Diagnose and treat acute medical, surgical, and trauma-related conditions.
• Lead and manage resuscitation efforts including ACLS, BLS, and advanced life support procedures.
• Perform critical emergency procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, suturing, and catheterization.
• Stabilize critically ill patients and coordinate transfer to ICU or specialized departments.
• Supervise and guide casualty medical officers, junior doctors, and nursing staff.
• Ensure adherence to emergency protocols, SOPs, and clinical guidelines.
• Manage medico-legal cases and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory and imaging investigations.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
• Communicate effectively with patients and attendants, especially in critical situations.
• Ensure availability and readiness of emergency equipment and medications.
• Participate in code blue and rapid response teams.
• Monitor patient outcomes and ensure continuous quality improvement.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in audits, clinical governance, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and emergency team members.
• Work in rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
• Stay updated with advancements in emergency medicine and critical care.
• Handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and composure.
• Coordinate with ambulance services and referral centers when required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical medical practices.
• Contribute to improving emergency department efficiency and patient outcomes.
• Participate in hospital emergency preparedness and disaster management plans.
