Intensivist

The Intensivist will be responsible for the comprehensive management of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), including diagnosis, treatment, and continuous monitoring of life-threatening conditions. This requires strong clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide critical care management for patients with life-threatening conditions.
• Perform thorough clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Monitor and manage patients on ventilators and other life-support systems.
• Lead and participate in emergency interventions including ACLS, BLS, and resuscitation procedures.
• Perform critical procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, arterial line placement, and ventilator management.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including specialists, nurses, and technicians.
• Interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory results, imaging, and hemodynamic parameters.
• Ensure continuous monitoring of vital signs and patient progress.
• Manage sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, cardiac emergencies, and multi-organ dysfunction.
• Ensure adherence to ICU protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patient families regarding condition, prognosis, and treatment plans.
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical decision-making.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of ICU equipment and medications.
• Participate in code blue and rapid response teams.
• Train and mentor junior doctors, nurses, and ICU staff.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Handle medico-legal cases and documentation when required.
• Work in rotational shifts including nights and on-call duties.
• Stay updated with advancements in critical care medicine.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical medical practices.
• Contribute to improving ICU outcomes and patient survival rates.
• Participate in hospital emergency preparedness and disaster management.
• Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and professionalism at all times.
