Job Description

The Intensivist will be responsible for managing patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), providing round-the-clock critical care, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring timely interventions for life-threatening conditions. The requires strong clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and the ability to handle complex and high-risk cases while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage life-threatening conditions and emergencies.
  • Monitor vital parameters and adjust treatment plans based on patient condition.
  • Manage ventilators, life-support systems, and advanced critical care equipment.
  • Perform critical procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and resuscitation.
  • Lead and participate in daily ICU rounds with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate with specialists, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Interpret laboratory investigations, imaging, and diagnostic reports.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and Code Blue situations.
  • Ensure adherence to ICU protocols, infection control, and safety standards.
  • Guide and supervise junior doctors, RMOs, and ICU staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records and clinical documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with patient families regarding condition and prognosis.
  • Participate in decision-making for patient management and end-of-life care.
  • Ensure ethical practices and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits in ICU.
  • Stay updated with advancements in critical care medicine.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and clinical guidelines.
  • Contribute to improving patient outcomes and ICU performance metrics.
