Job Description
The Resident Medical Officer will be responsible for evaluating and managing patients, coordinating with consultants, ensuring timely clinical interventions, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting emergency care services. The requires strong clinical judgment, quick decision-making skills, and the ability to handle critical and non-critical cases efficiently while ensuring continuity of care and patient safety.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of inpatients across wards, ICU, and emergency departments.
- Monitor patient conditions and ensure timely clinical interventions.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide immediate stabilization.
- Coordinate with consultants for diagnosis, treatment planning, and case management.
- Perform routine ward rounds and document patient progress regularly.
- Review and interpret laboratory and diagnostic reports and escalate critical findings.
- Ensure timely administration of medications as per treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records and case notes.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure proper patient care and monitoring.
- Assist in admissions, discharges, and transfer processes of patients.
- Prepare and maintain discharge summaries and medical documentation.
- Attend emergency codes such as Code Blue and manage critical situations.
- Respond to emergency admissions and ambulance cases effectively.
- Ensure coordination with diagnostic departments like lab, radiology, and blood bank.
- Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient care when required.
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, and safety standards.
- Maintain clear communication during shift handovers for continuity of care.
- Support infection control practices and patient safety measures.
- Assist consultants during procedures and clinical evaluations.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by senior medical staff or management.
- Maintain professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality at all times.
