Job Description
The Biochemist will conduct biochemical analyses of blood, urine, and other body fluids, interpret results, and support clinical decision-making. This requires strong analytical skills, laboratory expertise, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform biochemical tests on patient samples such as blood, urine, and body fluids.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and analyzers.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through proper calibration and quality checks.
- Analyze and interpret laboratory findings and report results promptly.
- Maintain proper documentation of test results and laboratory records.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control protocols.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Monitor and manage reagents, chemicals, and laboratory consumables.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of samples and reagents.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within the laboratory.
- Adhere to infection control and biosafety guidelines.
- Coordinate with doctors and clinical teams for test requirements and clarifications.
- Handle critical values and escalate abnormal results immediately.
- Participate in audits and ensure audit readiness.
- Maintain equipment logs and ensure timely maintenance and calibration.
- Support research and development activities if required.
- Train and guide junior lab staff or technicians.
- Ensure compliance with NABH and regulatory standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient data and test results.
- Work efficiently in shifts and manage workload effectively.
- Stay updated with advancements in laboratory techniques and diagnostics.
- Assist in validation and implementation of new tests.
- Ensure proper waste disposal as per biomedical waste guidelines.
- Demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism.
- Contribute to high-quality diagnostic services and patient care.
