Job Description
The General Manager – Engineering will be responsible for overseeing all engineering functions including maintenance, utilities, projects, automation, infrastructure management, and technical compliance. The involves ensuring uninterrupted plant operations, optimizing engineering performance, driving process improvements, and maintaining compliance with GMP, safety, and regulatory standards. The candidate will play a critical leadership in enhancing operational reliability, cost efficiency, and long-term engineering strategies.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage overall engineering, maintenance, utility, and infrastructure operations across manufacturing facilities.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with organizational goals and operational requirements.
- Ensure smooth functioning of production equipment, HVAC systems, utilities, water systems, boilers, chillers, compressors, and facility infrastructure.
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance programs to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Manage engineering projects including installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, engineering SOPs, safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for operational efficiency, automation, energy optimization, and cost reduction.
- Coordinate with production, QA, QC, EHS, supply chain, and other departments for smooth plant operations.
- Monitor engineering KPIs, maintenance performance, utility consumption, and operational efficiency metrics.
- Develop and manage engineering budgets, maintenance planning, and capital expenditure projects.
- Ensure timely availability of spare parts, engineering materials, and technical resources.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for major equipment failures and operational issues.
- Supervise contractors, engineering vendors, consultants, and technical service providers.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities related to engineering systems and utilities.
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety, environmental compliance, and risk management standards.
- Promote innovation, modernization, and implementation of advanced engineering technologies.
- Prepare engineering MIS reports, maintenance summaries, project updates, and management presentations.
- Train, mentor, and develop engineering teams to strengthen technical capabilities and leadership skills.
- Support business expansion, facility upgrades, and strategic engineering initiatives.
- Stay updated with latest engineering technologies, pharmaceutical industry standards, and global best practices.
