Job Description
The Deputy Manager – Engineering will be responsible for managing preventive and breakdown maintenance activities, utility systems, equipment performance, and engineering projects to ensure uninterrupted plant operations. The involves coordinating with production, QA, QC, EHS, and external vendors while ensuring compliance with GMP, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The candidate will play a key in improving operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and engineering performance.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise engineering and maintenance operations across manufacturing and utility areas.
- Ensure smooth functioning of production equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for plant machinery and systems.
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, compressors, water systems, DG sets, and utilities.
- Coordinate installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of equipment and machinery.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, engineering SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, engineering plans, and utility monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot technical and mechanical issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
- Coordinate with production, QA, QC, and EHS teams for maintenance planning and execution.
- Manage engineering documentation including maintenance logs, calibration records, and utility reports.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving and cost-optimization initiatives.
- Supervise contractors, service providers, and engineering support staff effectively.
- Ensure timely availability of spare parts, tools, and engineering consumables.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities related to engineering systems.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of CAPA for equipment failures and operational issues.
- Ensure proper safety practices and compliance within engineering and utility operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for plant reliability, maintenance efficiency, and automation.
- Prepare engineering MIS reports, downtime analysis, and operational summaries for management review.
- Train and guide engineering team members on technical procedures and safety practices.
- Stay updated with latest engineering technologies, maintenance practices, and pharmaceutical industry standards.
