OT Pharmacist

Usthi Hospital is hiring an experienced OT Pharmacist for the Operation Theatre and Pharmacy department at IRC Village, Bhubaneswar. The candidate should have 2–3 years of experience in hospital pharmacy operations, OT medicine handling, stock management, and surgical item coordination. The requires strong knowledge of medicines, consumables, emergency drugs, inventory control, and safe medication practices within a hospital environment.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Manage pharmacy-related requirements for Operation Theatre procedures and surgical cases.
• Issue medicines, injections, surgical consumables, and emergency drugs as per doctor or OT team requirements.
• Maintain proper stock of OT medicines, anesthesia drugs, surgical items, and critical care consumables.
• Check expiry dates, batch numbers, storage conditions, and availability of pharmacy items regularly.
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and OT staff for timely supply of required medicines.
• Ensure accurate billing, entry, and documentation of medicines and consumables used during procedures.
• Maintain proper records of issued, returned, and consumed pharmacy stock from OT and related departments.
• Follow hospital pharmacy protocols for safe storage, dispensing, and handling of medications.
• Monitor high-value, emergency, and controlled medicines with extra care and proper documentation.
• Support inventory audits and assist in reducing medicine wastage, shortage, and expired stock.
• Ensure all pharmacy items are stored according to temperature, safety, and hospital quality standards.
• Coordinate with the main pharmacy or purchase team for timely replenishment of OT stock.
• Assist in maintaining emergency drug trays, crash cart medicines, and operation-specific medicine kits.
• Report stock discrepancies, near-expiry items, or urgent medicine requirements to the concerned authority.
• Maintain patient safety by ensuring correct medicine, correct quantity, and correct documentation for every case.
