Kiran Multi Super Speciality Hospital & Research Center is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Blood Bank Technician to support safe and efficient blood transfusion services by managing blood collection, testing, processing, storage, and distribution in compliance with regulatory and hospital standards. The involves ensuring high-quality laboratory practices, accurate documentation, and strict adherence to safety and infection control protocols.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform blood grouping, cross-matching, and compatibility testing as per standard protocols.
• Conduct screening of donated blood for transfusion-transmitted infections (TTIs).
• Collect, label, process, and store blood and blood components under prescribed conditions.
• Ensure proper segregation and maintenance of blood inventory (whole blood, plasma, platelets, etc.).
• Monitor temperature and storage conditions of blood bank refrigerators, freezers, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of donors, blood units, testing results, and issue registers.
• Issue blood and blood components as per hospital requisitions and clinical requirements.
• Ensure proper labeling, traceability, and documentation of all blood products.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and clinical departments for transfusion requirements.
• Follow strict infection control, biosafety, and biomedical waste management protocols.
• Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and quality control of laboratory equipment.
• Participate in internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assurance (EQA) programs.
• Handle adverse transfusion reactions reporting and assist in investigations when required.
• Ensure compliance with blood bank regulations, NABH standards, and statutory guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness, sterility, and hygiene in the blood bank area.
• Assist in donor counseling, registration, and blood collection activities when required.
• Manage stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of blood bank supplies.
• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Ensure proper disposal of biomedical and biohazard waste as per guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical handling of donor and patient information.
• Perform any additional laboratory or blood bank duties assigned by senior staff.
