Job Description

The Intensivist will be responsible for managing critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and life support. This includes ventilator and hemodynamic management, handling medical emergencies, supervising ICU teams, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and quality standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage critically ill patients requiring intensive care, including ventilator and hemodynamic support.
  • Conduct daily clinical rounds, assess patient progress, and modify treatment plans accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively with patient families regarding condition, prognosis, and treatment plans.
  • Perform and supervise critical care procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and arterial line placement.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, ICU protocols, and patient safety standards.
  • Lead and manage code blue situations, sepsis management, trauma care, and other emergencies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiology, pulmonology, surgery, and nursing staff.
  • Guide and supervise junior doctors, residents, and ICU nursing teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient records and treatment plans.
  • Participate in clinical audits, mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure rational use of antibiotics in coordination with antimicrobial stewardship programs.
  • Monitor utilization of ICU resources and ensure optimal patient care delivery.
  • Support training and development of ICU staff through teaching and mentoring.
