Job Description

Senior Associate Consultant - Pediatric Cardiac Anaesthesia is responsible for leading anaesthesia care for complex pediatric cardiac surgeries, supporting perioperative management, supervising teams, and ensuring patient safety during high-risk cardiac procedures. The requires MBBS with MD or DNB qualification and fellowship exposure in Pediatric ICU or Pediatric Anaesthesia with 5 to 10 years of experience.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead anaesthesia planning for pediatric cardiac surgery and complex cardiac procedures.
  • Perform detailed pre-operative assessment and risk stratification for pediatric patients.
  • Administer and supervise safe anaesthesia during pediatric cardiac interventions.
  • Monitor advanced cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic parameters.
  • Manage difficult airway, invasive lines, ventilation, blood products, fluids, and emergency drugs.
  • Coordinate with pediatric cardiac surgeons, intensivists, perfusionists, OT team, and ICU team.
  • Support management of congenital cardiac defects and high-risk pediatric cardiac cases.
  • Ensure smooth post-operative transfer and detailed handover to Pediatric Cardiac ICU.
  • Guide junior anaesthesia doctors, fellows, and OT support staff.
  • Maintain accurate anaesthesia documentation, clinical notes, consent records, and safety checklists.
  • Ensure availability and functionality of pediatric anaesthesia equipment and emergency resources.
  • Manage perioperative complications promptly and according to clinical standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac case planning and clinical reviews.
  • Support quality audits, protocol development, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Deliver expert, ethical, and family-centered pediatric cardiac anaesthesia care.
