Job Description

Senior Clinical Assistant - Vascular Surgery is responsible for providing advanced clinical support to vascular surgery consultants, assisting in patient care, surgical coordination, documentation, and supervision of daily clinical workflow. The requires MBBS with MD or DNB qualification and 0 to 5 years of experience. Candidates should have knowledge of vascular surgery care, general surgery, wound management, patient monitoring, and surgical coordination.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Support vascular surgery consultants in OPD, IPD, ward rounds, and procedure planning.
  • Conduct preliminary patient assessment and document clinical findings accurately.
  • Monitor vascular surgery patients before and after procedures.
  • Review Doppler studies, imaging reports, blood investigations, and clinical progress.
  • Support management of diabetic foot, varicose veins, vascular trauma, arterial disease, and wound cases.
  • Assist in pre-operative preparation, consent documentation, and patient counselling support.
  • Coordinate with OT, anaesthesia, ICU, radiology, nursing, lab, and rehabilitation teams.
  • Maintain accurate case sheets, prescriptions, progress notes, handover notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Assist in dressings, wound assessment, minor procedures, and bedside care under supervision.
  • Identify complications such as bleeding, ischemia, infection, swelling, or deterioration and escalate immediately.
  • Guide junior clinical assistants or support staff in routine patient workflow.
  • Support admission, transfer, discharge, and follow-up coordination.
  • Follow surgical safety, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
  • Participate in audits, case reviews, academic discussions, and quality initiatives.
  • Deliver disciplined, ethical, and patient-centered vascular surgery support.
