Job Description

Associate Consultant - Plastic Surgery is responsible for providing plastic, reconstructive, cosmetic, trauma, and wound-related surgical care under hospital protocols. The requires MBBS with MS, DNB, MCh, DM, or relevant surgical qualification and 0 to 5 years of experience. Candidates should have knowledge of plastic surgery procedures, wound management, reconstructive planning, surgical documentation, and patient counselling.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct consultations for plastic, reconstructive, cosmetic, trauma, and wound care patients.
  • Evaluate patients requiring surgical reconstruction, soft tissue repair, burns care, or cosmetic procedures.
  • Assist or perform plastic surgery procedures as per qualification and hospital policy.
  • Review patient history, clinical findings, imaging, laboratory reports, and surgical requirements.
  • Prepare surgical plans in coordination with senior consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage pre-operative preparation and post-operative recovery of plastic surgery patients.
  • Support wound care, dressing, flap monitoring, graft care, and scar management.
  • Coordinate with OT, anaesthesia, ICU, nursing, emergency, and rehabilitation teams.
  • Counsel patients and attendants regarding surgery, expected results, risks, recovery, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate operative notes, prescriptions, progress notes, and discharge documentation.
  • Follow surgical safety, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
  • Identify complications early and escalate cases when required.
  • Participate in case discussions, audits, and clinical learning activities.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and ethical medical practice.
  • Deliver safe, skillful, and patient-centered plastic surgery care.
