The Senior Resident General Surgery will support surgical patient assessment, general surgery care, emergency surgical management, operative assistance, post-operative monitoring, and clinical documentation at Fortis Hospitals, Kolkata. This requires MS or DNB General Surgery qualification with 1–5 years of experience in general surgery, surgery, senior resident duties, and patient care.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Attend surgical OPD, IPD, emergency, OT, ward, and post-operative patients.
- Take detailed surgical history, perform clinical examination, and support diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Assist consultants during ward rounds, procedures, surgeries, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Support general surgery procedures, wound care, dressing, drain care, and emergency surgical coordination.
- Monitor post-operative vitals, wound condition, pain, bleeding, infection signs, drains, and recovery progress.
- Review lab reports, imaging reports, surgical notes, and patient response to treatment.
- Coordinate with OT, ICU, anaesthesia, nursing, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and billing teams.
- Maintain case sheets, consent forms, progress notes, operative notes, procedure records, and discharge summaries.
- Respond to emergency surgical cases and escalate critical patients promptly.
- Counsel patients and attendants under consultant guidance regarding surgery, recovery, and follow-up care.
- Follow surgical safety checklist, infection control, patient safety, and documentation standards.
- Deliver safe, timely, ethical, and patient-focused surgical care support.
