Professor - Neurosurgery

The Professor – Neurosurgery will lead academic teaching, clinical neurosurgical services, operative training, research, and departmental development. This requires advanced expertise in brain, spine, peripheral nerve, trauma, tumor, vascular, and emergency neurosurgical care. The candidate will supervise residents, perform complex neurosurgical procedures, guide research, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and ensure high standards of surgical safety, patient outcomes, and academic excellence.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead academic teaching and clinical training for undergraduate, postgraduate, and neurosurgery trainees.
• Diagnose and manage brain, spine, peripheral nerve, trauma, tumor, and vascular neurosurgical conditions.
• Perform and supervise neurosurgical procedures, emergency surgeries, and postoperative care.
• Conduct ward rounds, ICU rounds, OPD consultations, operative teaching, and case discussions.
• Guide residents in surgical decision-making, procedure planning, operative techniques, and complication management.
• Supervise dissertations, clinical research, academic presentations, and scientific publications.
• Coordinate with neurology, radiology, critical care, anesthesia, emergency, rehabilitation, and oncology teams.
• Provide expert consultation for head injury, spinal disorders, brain tumors, stroke-related surgical cases, and neurocritical conditions.
• Ensure accurate documentation of clinical findings, operative notes, consent forms, and follow-up care.
• Promote neurosurgical safety, infection control, ethical decision-making, and evidence-based treatment.
• Participate in academic committees, examinations, faculty meetings, and institutional planning.
• Support morbidity reviews, clinical audits, patient safety initiatives, and quality improvement programs.
• Organize or participate in CME activities, neurosurgical workshops, conferences, and training programs.
• Mentor junior faculty, residents, and clinical teams for academic and surgical skill development.
• Contribute to expansion of advanced neurosurgery services, research output, and departmental excellence.
