Job Description
The Professor – Medical Oncology will lead academic teaching, clinical oncology services, chemotherapy planning, research, and departmental development. This requires advanced expertise in cancer diagnosis, systemic therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care, and multidisciplinary cancer management. The candidate will mentor students and residents, manage complex oncology cases, participate in tumor boards, guide research, and ensure compassionate, evidence-based cancer care.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead academic teaching and clinical training for undergraduate, postgraduate, and oncology trainees.
- Diagnose and manage patients with different types and stages of cancer.
- Develop systemic treatment plans including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care.
- Conduct OPD consultations, inpatient rounds, follow-up visits, and emergency oncology assessments.
- Monitor treatment response, manage therapy-related side effects, and modify plans when clinically required.
- Participate in tumor board meetings and multidisciplinary cancer care planning.
- Guide residents and students in research projects, dissertations, publications, and scientific presentations.
- Coordinate with surgical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, palliative care, and nursing teams.
- Review laboratory reports, imaging studies, biopsy reports, molecular tests, and staging investigations.
- Ensure safe chemotherapy planning through protocol selection, dose calculation, consent, and monitoring.
- Maintain accurate treatment records, progress notes, consent forms, discharge summaries, and follow-up plans.
- Explain diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, risks, and care plans to patients and families with empathy.
- Promote evidence-based oncology practice, patient safety, infection control, and ethical clinical care.
- Support clinical audits, oncology research, CME programs, workshops, and academic conferences.
- Contribute to growth of medical oncology services, cancer care programs, and departmental excellence.
