Professor - Critical Care Medicine

The Professor – Critical Care Medicine will lead clinical care, academic teaching, research, and departmental development in the Critical Care Medicine department. This involves managing critically ill patients, supervising ICU teams, training residents, guiding research, and ensuring evidence-based intensive care practices. The candidate should have strong expertise in ICU management, emergency response, ventilator care, hemodynamic monitoring, patient safety, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead teaching and clinical training for residents, fellows, junior doctors, and critical care trainees.
• Manage critically ill patients in ICU, emergency, high-dependency, and acute care settings.
• Supervise ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, sepsis care, shock management, and organ support.
• Conduct ICU rounds, bedside teaching, case discussions, seminars, and morbidity review meetings.
• Guide residents in research projects, dissertations, publications, and academic presentations.
• Develop critical care protocols, treatment pathways, teaching schedules, and departmental academic plans.
• Coordinate with medicine, surgery, anesthesia, emergency, nephrology, cardiology, and nursing teams for patient care.
• Ensure timely diagnosis, treatment planning, escalation decisions, and family counseling for critical cases.
• Maintain accurate ICU documentation, procedure notes, consent records, and clinical progress notes.
• Promote infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, patient safety, and ethical end-of-life care practices.
• Participate in academic committees, examinations, faculty meetings, and institutional planning.
• Support audits, quality indicators, clinical governance, and accreditation-related critical care activities.
• Train ICU staff on emergency protocols, resuscitation, airway care, and critical monitoring practices.
• Organize or participate in CME programs, simulation training, workshops, and clinical conferences.
• Contribute to strengthening critical care services, academic outcomes, and multidisciplinary patient care.
