OT Nurse

The OT Nurse will assist surgeons, anaesthesia teams, and OT incharges during surgical procedures by ensuring OT readiness, sterile discipline, patient safety, and accurate documentation. The candidate should be trained in surgical preparation, instrument handling, aseptic precautions, patient positioning, OT checklist support, and coordination with CSSD, pharmacy, biomedical, nursing, and housekeeping teams. This requires discipline, alertness, and strong infection control practices.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operation theatre, instruments, sterile sets, gowns, gloves, sutures, and OT consumables.
• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments and required materials.
• Maintain sterile field and follow aseptic precautions during all OT activities.
• Support patient shifting, positioning, draping, and pre-operative preparation.
• Perform sponge, needle, swab, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgery.
• Coordinate with OT incharge, surgeons, anaesthesia team, CSSD, pharmacy, and support staff.
• Ensure required equipment, instruments, implants, and emergency materials are available.
• Maintain OT registers, surgical checklist support, and procedure-related documentation.
• Follow infection control, biomedical waste management, OT safety, and sterilization protocols.
• Report damaged instruments, missing items, contamination, or equipment issues immediately.
• Maintain patient privacy, safety, and dignity inside the OT.
• Ensure smooth, safe, sterile, and patient-focused OT nursing support.
