Cath Lab Nurse

The Cath Lab Nurse will support cardiologists, cath lab technicians, anaesthesia teams, and critical care teams during cath lab procedures and cardiac patient care. The candidate should have experience in pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, post-procedure observation, emergency readiness, cardiac medication support, documentation, and patient counselling. This requires clinical alertness, cardiac care knowledge, teamwork, and strict adherence to cath lab safety and infection control protocols.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare cath lab patients before procedures including consent support, vitals check, IV access support, and documentation.
• Assist cardiologists and cath lab team during angiography, angioplasty, stenting, and other cardiac procedures as per scope.
• Monitor patient vitals, ECG, oxygen saturation, pain, consciousness, and clinical condition during and after procedures.
• Support emergency response, CPR, defibrillator readiness, crash cart preparation, and cardiac emergency care.
• Administer medicines, IV fluids, oxygen, and prescribed nursing care safely under doctor guidance.
• Maintain cath lab nursing records, procedure notes, medication records, consent checklist, and handover documentation.
• Coordinate with cardiologists, cath lab technicians, ICU, emergency, pharmacy, laboratory, billing, and patient care teams.
• Support patient shifting from cath lab to ICU, ward, recovery area, or emergency care area.
• Follow infection control, hand hygiene, PPE, sterile precautions, and biomedical waste protocols.
• Report abnormal vitals, arrhythmia, bleeding, chest pain, patient deterioration, or emergency changes immediately.
• Educate patients and relatives regarding procedure preparation, post-procedure care, and follow-up instructions under guidance.
• Deliver safe, alert, ethical, and patient-centered cath lab nursing support.
