Retina Surgeon - Ophthalmologist

The Retina Surgeon - Ophthalmologist will manage advanced retinal and vitreoretinal conditions with a focus on accurate diagnosis, timely intervention, surgical care, and long-term visual outcome monitoring. This requires expertise in retina diagnostics, laser procedures, intravitreal therapy, retinal surgery, and patient counselling. The candidate will work closely with ophthalmology, optometry, OT, and diagnostic teams to provide comprehensive retina care.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients with retinal disease, vision loss, diabetic eye disease, and macular conditions.
• Diagnose and manage retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disorders.
• Perform vitreoretinal procedures and retina surgeries as per clinical indication.
• Provide retinal laser treatment, intravitreal injections, and emergency retina care when required.
• Interpret OCT, fundus imaging, angiography, B-scan, and retinal diagnostic reports.
• Counsel patients regarding retinal disease, surgery, injection schedules, risks, and follow-up needs.
• Coordinate with optometrists, diagnostic staff, OT team, anesthesia, and counsellors.
• Monitor treatment response, complications, surgical recovery, and visual outcomes.
• Maintain clinical records, procedure notes, consent documents, and discharge summaries.
• Follow infection control, surgical safety, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.
• Prioritize urgent retina cases and ensure timely intervention.
• Support diabetic retina screening and retina awareness activities.
• Participate in case discussions, clinical audits, and quality improvement programs.
• Guide clinical teams in retina patient preparation and documentation.
• Deliver ethical, evidence-based, and specialized retina care.
