Glaucoma Surgeon - Ophthalmologist

The Glaucoma Surgeon - Ophthalmologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and surgically managing glaucoma and optic nerve-related eye conditions. This requires expertise in glaucoma evaluation, IOP monitoring, visual field interpretation, OCT analysis, laser procedures, surgical planning, and long-term patient counselling. The candidate will help prevent vision loss through timely diagnosis, treatment compliance, and continuous follow-up care.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage glaucoma, ocular hypertension, and optic nerve-related disorders.
• Perform glaucoma evaluation using IOP measurement, gonioscopy, visual field, OCT, and optic nerve assessment.
• Plan medical, laser, or surgical treatment based on disease stage and patient condition.
• Perform or assist in glaucoma laser and surgical procedures as per expertise.
• Monitor disease progression, medication response, side effects, and visual outcomes.
• Counsel patients regarding chronic glaucoma care, medication adherence, and follow-up importance.
• Coordinate with optometrists, diagnostic technicians, counsellors, OT, and ophthalmology teams.
• Identify high-risk patients and ensure timely review and clinical intervention.
• Maintain detailed clinical records, investigation reports, treatment plans, and follow-up notes.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for glaucoma surgery patients.
• Follow infection control, surgical safety, patient safety, and ethical clinical standards.
• Support glaucoma screening, awareness programs, and preventive eye care activities.
• Participate in clinical audits, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Guide junior doctors and clinical staff on glaucoma workup and documentation.
• Deliver evidence-based, preventive, and patient-centered glaucoma care.
