Job Description
MGM Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Perfusionist to manage cardiopulmonary bypass procedures and support cardiac surgeries by operating heart-lung machines and related life-support equipment. The involves ensuring safe extracorporeal circulation, monitoring patient parameters, and collaborating closely with the cardiac surgical team.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate and manage cardiopulmonary bypass (heart-lung machine) during cardiac surgeries.
- Prepare and set up perfusion equipment before surgical procedures.
- Prime and manage extracorporeal circulation circuits as per surgical requirements.
- Monitor patient physiological parameters during bypass procedures.
- Maintain optimal blood flow, oxygenation, and temperature control during surgery.
- Administer prescribed medications, anticoagulants, and blood products via bypass system.
- Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and ICU teams.
- Ensure safe initiation and weaning from cardiopulmonary bypass.
- Maintain accurate records of perfusion parameters and procedural documentation.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of perfusion equipment.
- Ensure availability and readiness of all consumables and emergency backup systems.
- Adhere strictly to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in pre-operative planning and case discussions for cardiac surgeries.
- Handle emergency situations during cardiac procedures effectively.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, cardiac surgery protocols, and NABH standards.
- Maintain inventory of perfusion supplies and equipment logs.
- Assist in quality improvement and audit processes related to cardiac care.
- Stay updated with advancements in perfusion technology and cardiac surgery techniques.
- Support organ transplant and complex cardiac procedures when required.
- Ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes during all perfusion procedures.
