Infection Control Nurse (ICN)

The Infection Control Nurse (ICN) will be responsible for implementing and monitoring infection prevention and control (IPC) programs, conducting surveillance of hospital-acquired infections, and ensuring adherence to hygiene and safety protocols. The requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to train and guide staff on best practices in infection control.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor infection prevention and control (IPC) policies across the hospital.
• Conduct surveillance of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and analyze trends.
• Ensure compliance with hand hygiene, sterilization, and aseptic protocols.
• Perform regular audits in ICU, OT, wards, and other departments.
• entify infection risks and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
• Investigate infection outbreaks and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
• Maintain infection control records, reports, and documentation.
• Train healthcare staff on infection control practices and safety protocols.
• Monitor biomedical waste management and disposal practices.
• Ensure compliance with NABH standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with microbiology and clinical teams for infection monitoring.
• Conduct hand hygiene audits and track compliance rates.
• Participate in infection control committee meetings and initiatives.
• Develop and update infection control policies and SOPs.
• Monitor antibiotic usage and support antimicrobial stewardship programs.
• Ensure safe handling of infectious materials and hazardous waste.
• Conduct awareness programs for staff, patients, and attendants.
• Support hospital accreditation and quality improvement initiatives.
• Report infection control data and performance metrics to management.
